It's Happening!

Contrary to popular belief, I mean "belief," it IS happening. I am moving February 24th. We sold our house. My last day at work is February 15--with a considerable amount of days off before then. I am out before BMOC.

In other news:
  • Date Night continues through February 17th. All are welcome in the light--AKA, Thursday evenings, after work at the Corey residence. Take out, the OC, Kate's laundry, and cocktails are the staples.
  • Congratulations to Jill and Bryan!
  • Ranger is still cute. He ate bubble wrap this week.
  • Jerry never blogs but is coming for date night.
  • I still have not hired my replacement. (Don't you see trouble with this--I will be to blame for everything that is wrong when I leave, including how the new me doesn't know what I know--NO THANKS!)
  • Moving is very expensive but not so bad when someone else is paying.
  • Check out this library worker's site--they work at a "real" library: http://deweydiaries.blogspot.com/
  • Nicole is going to be 30--Happy Birthday and have fun in Florida!
  • Kate may be a shopaholic. (I'm not saying I'm not. Just an observation.)

All for now.

1.03.2005

It has been one month and two days since my last entry (and then 14 more days)....

Hey, 'tis the season and all that crap. Seriously though, I have been busy. To re-cap the last month +:

December 3-5
Went shopping with Marilyn on Saturday and with Kate on Sunday but it was more along the lines of "Merry Christmas--to me!" I did purchase Adam a boatload of clothing from the Gap--thanks to my friend/family connection, Nicole. She should definitely get a commission on what we bought!

December 10-12
I went to Washington, DC, to visit my man and instead of driving, I, "flew all by [myself] like a big girl." The weekend was spent socializing over drinks and dinner, trying to purchase Adam a bed, cleaning his new apartment, getting Adam a haircut , attending the office Holiday party with a never-ending open bar and delicious apps (thanks TEAM), taking the train into DC to look at a house (we forgot the map and blew it off), going for a long walk, drinking beer, and eating Mexican food, and flying "all by [myself] like a big girl."

December 17-19
On Friday, feeling crappy, I stayed home and wrapped presents all night. Saturday, took Ranger to pick up Adam at the airport, went straight to the mall, made assorted other shopping stops, and went home to prep for our date with Kate and Jerry. Had drinks (many), dinner, and dessert at the Blue Room in Cambridge. Jerry, Kate, and Adam all had steak. I had salmon. We all shared garlic mashed potatoes and asian greens--mmmmm! Desserts were Creme Brule and some pear thing, soaked in booze, stuffed with mascarpone--again, mmmmm! I highly recommend it--they even gave us bread to take home, since we were among the "closers." We then proceeded to the Indo for after-dinner drinks. Adam and I headed home just before last call, leaving Kate and Jerry to close their second place of the night. Speaking to Kate on Sunday morning, I heard that Jerry woke up at home with his clothes on (not backward) and someone else's Sunday Globe; Kate stayed in her jams all day. Sunday was a continuation of Christmas shopping, getting Ranger a bath at Petsmart, and taking Adam back to the airport. Sunday evening, I, AGAIN, stayed up too late wrapping presents.

December 23-27
As I was getting ready to depart for USNY, we accepted an offer on the house, the front door broke, and torrential downpours struck, so instead of leaving for Cortland on Thursday evening, I fixed the door and waited out the rain until Friday morning. Made it to C-town by noon on Friday.

Christmas Eve dinner at Noanie & PupPup's (Adam's grandparents') consisted of a simple Italian meal: Clams Casino, Shrimp Cocktail, Pasta, Butterfly Shrimp, Lobster Tail, Lobster Newburgh (toast points too), fried bread, Date-nut Bread, Italian Greens, Italian cookies, Manhattans, Red Wine, and Coffee w/ Bailey's. The eating began around 4:00 pm and we all departed around 1:00 am. We did cut back this year though--no chesnuts. Ranger enjoyed his meal!

Christmas Day began with gifts at Adam's parents, gifting with my parents and neices and nephew at my sister's house, and dinner back at Adam's mom's. Again, a simple fare: Wedding/Holiday Soup, Prime Rib, Cheesey Potatoes, Italian Greens, Date-nut Bread, 5 cup Salad, Jello w/ fruit, Italian cookies, Red Wine, Coffee w/ Bailey's, and chestnuts.

Day-after Christmas was at the Auburn G'Ma's. First Helen's (Mom's Mom)--talking about the food any further will make me sick--then Dorothy's (Dad's Mom). Stayed at Helen's and did some cleaning and laundry, etc. Back to Adam's Mom's for the evening...

December 28-30
Drove to DC, cleaned Adam's place, went and bought a new bed, and ran other errands. Wednesday I had a lovely tour of our house, the house of the people, The White House.
I saw the Christmas trees, bowled a frame (picked up the spare), hung by the West Wing, and spent the afternoon and early evening at Ebbitt's. Thanks to the Mercer and Ancona families for such a great day! Pictures to be posted at the mac site.

December 31-January 3
Drove back to Syr. for NewYear's Eve with the Kaminskis, Mercers, Anconas, and others. We had a great time while Ranger spent his birthday with the Kaminski girls and babysitters (Kelly K's parents) the Hosfords of Richfield Springs. Happy Anniversary to the Coreys (that's me!), Happy Birthday to Maria Ancona Mercer, Maggie Kaminski, Bonnie Moore, and Ranger Corey! Yeah New Year's Eve!

New Year's Day was spent nursing a slight hangover, watching Baby Einstein (what the hell?!?!?!), watching the DVD set of PeeWee's playhouse, and drinking coffee. We drove to C-town for a visit with Adam's grandfather and dinner at his mom's. We finally drove back to Somerville, MA, arriving sometime around 11:45 pm and slept in our own bed. Ahhhhhh, home!

I'm tired of travelling and eating!
